Admissions & Visiting the School

Admissions

Arnold Lodge School welcomes applications at any stage from Nursery (the term of the child's 3rd birthday) to Year 11 provided there are spaces available. From Year 1 to Year 6 children are not required to sit an entrance exam for entry to the school, however all prospective pupils must complete a 'taster day' with pupils of their own age. The 'taster day' allows a child to experience a typical day at Arnold Lodge. During the day our teachers can observe performance and social interaction and assess the attributes a child can bring to the school. An offer of a place will be based on the outcome of the 'taster day' in addition to previous school reports, which must be submitted.

Children entering the school's Reception class are required to spend a session in the Nursery, prior to an offer of a place being made.

Admission to the Senior School at Year 7 and beyond is based on performance during an assessment morning which takes place in early January in addition to a 'taster day' and interview. In exceptional cases the entrance exam can be taken on an alternative date.

Parents wishing to secure a place in the Nursery are advised to register as early as possible, as most of our sessions fill very quickly. We accept children from the term of their third birthday.

Visiting the School

Choosing the right school is one of the most important decisions in life. We therefore encourage prospective parents to come and visit Arnold Lodge during the school day. You will then get the opportunity to talk to our Headmaster, Mr Williams, meet with our Director - Administration and Finance, Mrs McKenna and receive a personal tour of the school to meet our teachers and pupils.
