Extra Curriculum & Clubs
From Kindergarten and Reception right through to GCSE we offer all our children a wealth of opportunity to discover their capabilities and skills outside the classroom.
We offer over 40 clubs
There are over 40 lunchtime and after school clubs at Arnold Lodge School. Several clubs including beginners Spanish, ballet, disco, karate and chess can be joined by children as young as four. Although there is an extra charge for the clubs where we bring in an outside instructor or teacher, most clubs can be accessed free of charge, or for a nominal fee to cover the cost of buying in materials.
Dance and Drama
Arnold Lodge School is recognised for its strong tradition in dance and drama.
Lessons are offered in ballet, tap, disco, freestyle dance and speech and drama with the opportunity to take the Royal Academy of Dance and L.A.M.D.A examinations. Children from Year 5 and upwards can join 'The Drama Workshop' who perform a variety of productions to pupils, parents and friends during the school year.
Music
With three school choirs, a school orchestra and several musical ensembles music plays an important part in the life of Arnold Lodge School. From the Reception class children have a weekly music lesson with the school's Director of Music. In Year 2 children learn to play the recorder and by Year 3 (or sooner in some cases) children have the option to take lessons in a musical instrument of their choice (or singing lessons) from one of the school's team of peripatetic music teachers for an additional charge. The choirs, orchestra and musical ensembles give regular concerts in the school and also in the local community. For children with outstanding musical talent music scholarships are available from Year 7.
Sport
Sport and fitness play a very important role at Arnold Lodge School. In addition to being part of the curriculum, there are numerous opportunities to take part in a range of sports during games and PE lessons, at lunchtime and after school. There is a busy schedule of sports fixtures and tournaments against other independent schools with children being selected to represent the school in netball, hockey or rounders (girls) and football, rugby and cricket (boys) from Year 3. For children with considerable natural ability in one or more areas of sport there are scholarships available from Year 7.
