Years 3 to 6

As the children progress in to Year 3 and key stage 2 they are encouraged to become more independent in their learning and contribute to their own education, that of others and to the school community. From Year 3 the children are allocated a School House which promotes teamwork and competition. At this stage they also get the opportunity to join choirs, the school orchestra and several musical ensembles with the chance to represent their class on the School Council. In the summer term the Year 3 pupils spend three exhilarating days at an educational activity centre in Staffordshire. From Years 3 and 4 children can be chosen to represent Arnold Lodge on a number of sports teams with a busy schedule of fixtures against other independent schools.

Pupils in Years 5 and 6 are taught by specialist teachers in dedicated classrooms with form tutors overseeing their personal wellbeing and everyday care. The children study a broad curriculum of subjects which from September 2009 will include Food Technology and Spanish. From Year 5 pupils are set according to ability in Maths, Science and English. This is carefully and continuously monitored, with the pupils requiring the most support placed in the smaller group. All the teachers at Arnold Lodge know the children well forming strong bonds and an excellent rapport with those in their care.
