Extra-Curricular & Trips

In Sixth Form

Learning should not be limited to the classroom; learning outside of the classroom helps pupils to develop their enthusiasm for the subject, personal confidence and relationships with their classmates and their teachers.

Extra-curricular trips are used to reinforce both the pastoral and academic provision at Arnold Lodge School, as we take our pupils out into the real world to help them experience the curriculum in a tangible way and to support their growing independence and self-confidence.

Life in our Senior School is enhanced through a diverse range of clubs, trips and expeditions held throughout the year.

Extra-curricular clubs are also offered during lunch times and after school from 4.00pm to 5:00pm each day, to help children to develop their passions and skills.

In Year 12, pupils visit Berlin and the World War One Battlefields and our Year 13 class will go abroad with previous trips visiting Rome.

Sporting trips

Regular trips are arranged to watch professional sports people competing on the biggest stages.

Recent outings have included:

  • All England Badminton Finals
  • British Basketball League Finals
  • Wimbledon tennis.

Our pupils have also performed the guard of honour for Leicester Tigers Rugby Club.

Duke of Edinburgh’s Award

The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award scheme is extremely popular, with pupils from Year 9 working to gain awards. For more information on the Duke of Edinburgh programme, please contact Mr Gear - [email protected].

Variety of clubs

We run an exciting range of clubs and societies to encourage children to try new things, share their passions with others and to make the most of opportunities.

We aim to expose children to as many new experiences as possible, allowing them to explore their likes and dislikes.

With lunchtime and afterschool clubs – from senior chefs to karate, school newspaper to stage combat, choir singing to ultimate frisbee and chess - there’s plenty of exciting activities for children to try.

If your child has an interest that you don’t think we cater for, we will do our best to set it up.

Most clubs can be accessed free of charge, or for a nominal fee to cover the cost of materials. There is only an extra charge if a specialist outside instructor is brought in.
