A Day in the Life of Seniors

In Seniors

The Senior School day begins at 8:35am, with supervised care available from 8:00am when the school gates open.

  • 11:00am – Morning break – pupils can bring in a small, healthy snack such as fruit, yoghurt or cereal bars (Arnold Lodge is a nut free school) or visit the tuck shop.
  • 1:10pm – Lunch - is served in the school dining hall and is an opportunity to recharge and socialise. Many children will take part in a lunchtime club on one or more days, giving them a chance to pursue personal interests or learn a new skill.
  • 4:00pm - The Senior School day finishes with ExEn (Extension and Enrichment) running until 6:00pm, Monday to Thursday.
  • ExEn offers pupils the chance to learn outside of the classroom, to develop their enthusiasm for a subject, new skill or sport.

Senior School pupils are given independence by taking increasing control of their learning. From Year 7, pupils follow a timetable and move around the school for lessons with specialist subject teachers.

On Fridays, part of the day is dedicated to Senior School assemblies as well as at least 40 minutes of Form time.  This session is also used to support cross-curricular projects or to deliver lessons covering spiritual, moral, social and cultural development of pupils.
